As Halloween comes around, Andrea Del Rosario, Louise delos Reyes and other celebrities share their own experiences about the existence of otherworldly spirits. They never come face-to-face with ghosts or other supernatural beings yet, but they would rather co-exist with them instead of allowing themselves to give in to their fears.

Del Rosario is one of the lead stars of the film “Nanay, Tatay” where she portrays a mother still heartbroken over her daughter’s death. Meanwhile, delos Reyes stars as Michelle in “Pasahero,” a student who takes her own life after being raped during a late-night train ride.

With both films talking about spirits, the actresses and their co-stars were asked if they ever come face-to-face with a ghost, and if they believed in the existence of them and other supernatural beings.

“I believe that there are spirits out there. But as a Christian kasi, I was told that if you believe in it too much, you give it life,” Del Rosario said during the Sine Sindak media con.

“If they’re really there, I’d rather not mind it so it wouldn’t be stronger. I’m sure most of us are Christians, if not all, we say, in Jesus’ name. But they’re there. We can feel it,” she continued.

Meanwhile, delos Reyes said she hasn’t seen a ghost but she had a close encounter with a spirit while filming for an undisclosed project. “I have never seen a ghost. I rspect the enttity because we cannot deny their existence in this world.”

“The closest encounter I had was during a taping at an abandoned house. I was on standby with the service stars before entering a scene. There was a huge light, and I noticed someone taking care of it. In my peripheral vision, I saw a man going up. Then the lights were turned off in the middle of the scene. I didn’t entertain them. But I could smell flowers used for the dead,” she said.

In Elia Ilano’s case, she shared that her mother has a third eye. This might’ve been a factor for her to be followed by a mysterious spirit when she was young.

“When I was young, my mommy had a third eye. So, when I was young, I visited Lola’s grave, and I felt that I saw someone. He looked so real to the point that he even followed me. We had to pray which was such a good protection,” she said.

Aubrey Caraan shared that she felt the existence of a ghost in the set of “Nanay, Tatay,” which led to her seeking safety in Del Rosario’s tent during filming. On the other hand, “Pasahero” director Roman Perez said he has a third eye, which makes him see, feel, and smell ghosts.

Meanwhile, Katya Santos said she feels that spirits are living in her home. But instead of being scared, she opted to treat them as separate beings and wanted to take care of them as well.

“I feel them all the time. I believe that we are in the physical world and there is a spirit world. Before moving into my current place, there was one time around 2 a.m. when a spirit would return to the stairs behind our room. It’s like they’re moving roughly. Our helpers would also hear someone stamping and walking upstairs many times. They exist until now,” she said.

Through time, Santos recalled the time when she learned to communicate with them in her own way, where she assured the spirit that she didn’t want to drive them away.

“I talk to them. I have a ritual where I’ll use a palo sando plant and incense. I tell them, ‘I know you came here first and I don’t want to drive you away. Let’s just share the space. Just don’t hurt us. Let’s take care of each other.’ Until now, I always tell guests, ‘I have someone with me. You might get surprised.’ We roam around the house and we make friends with them. I just want to know that we’re not harmful,” she said.

“Nanay, Tatay” and “Pasahero” are the Filipino films included in the fifth iteration of the Sine Sindak film festival which will run from October 30 to November 5.
